So, roastbeef got postponed and is now going to be on the 11th! However, I will not be in attendance unfortunately :( I hope some girls still venture out though, it's a good time!! So, I'm sure we all have a bunch of old goggle lenses kicking around... not knowing what to do with them... well! If you click HERE you'll find out a great way to get rid of those old lenses... you could even double this project and make is a christmas present for someone! With the rest of Canada getting dumped with snow, I'm getting pretty anxious... Martock is suppose to open on the 10th... Which is this Friday! Who thinks this will happen? ☮ ♥ shred

This weekend there's an awesome event called Roastbeef Rail Jam going on at Crabbe.... If you have the chance, you should definitely check it out! What they do is blow a bunch of snow onto their bunny hill and then set up a bunch of jibs! I went last year, it was awesome... This year, I'm road tripping up with a few people... So stay tuned for an update about it!
Adrenaline Divas welcomes two time Olympian, Sarah Conrad, to the team! Sarah has a new profile and some photos posted under the Team Tab and will be out as a guest rider at both the Wentworth and Martock Christmas Camps!!! Come ride with the AD Team this Christmas!

It's a good time to check out the local shops and get some Christmas shopping done if I say so myself!! ☮ ♥ shred This is one of the reasons I love Nova Scotia shred, months before the season even starts or months after it ends, you're grabbing snow from the local rink and getting your jib fix.... as long as there's an open rink there's a way!
So, this weekend I headed up to Kentville and scoped out some rails... we found a perfect one and got to shoveling! Four loads of snow in Shania (that's my truck!) and we were good to go. With a very skier run in (I was the only snowboarder.... and the only girl!) I gave er my best by getting a sling shot at the rail a few times, but I wasn't really feeling it. Big props to the Tactic Media boys killin' it all day and getting some sick shots! Check out the Tactic Media site (link above) and watch their edits if you haven't already, its out of control! That's all for now folks! ☮ ♥ shred Let me introduce myself! My name is Sarah Payzant, I'm 20 years old and live in Falmouth, Nova Scotia..... I like long walks on the beach, sipping baby duck champagne while watching the sun set and meeting new people. But most off all, I LOVE snowboarding! I have been put to the test to see how stoked I can get you guys for the upcoming season!
First things first, check out this video from Rugged Riders! Also, why not check out how fellow team rider Alex Duckworth gets ready for the season! The white stuff has already started falling from the sky! It won't be long before it stays on the ground! Catch ya on the flip side ☮ ♥ shred Weather for the Valentine's Day Kinky Rail Jam at Martock was epic, sitting at a perfect 0c in the park which was shut down just for the ladies. A total of 26 girls from three provinces (Nova Scotia, PEI & New Brunswick) showed up for the event and spent the day throwing down. The morning started with the beginner and intermediate clinics where you could tell right away, the level of riding this year was WAY up. Coaches Stephanie & Sarah moved into a game of K-I-N-K-Y with the 19 Intermediate ladies while the beginners learned some new skills with Natasha. Mid-morning the park cleared to let the two beginner girls show their stuff and they did! These ladies were boardsliding the gap on pink flat box and tearing over the randow and volcano box after just learning to ride the park, congrats!
The volunteers had a chance to chow down on some homemade grub & cookies along with some Monster to re-fuel while the Intermediate & Advanced riders warmed up again to show us what female riding in the Atlantic looks like. Twenty-two girls took over the park for this part of the contest where we saw a ton of 270 frontboards, lipslides on both urban down boxes, backside 50-50's, 5-0's, and much more! Everyone joined back in for a fun jam on the pink box where the judges were looking for the best trick. Prince Edward Island local Kayla impressed 'em with a super smooth 270 frontboard. The intermediate contest ended with the youngest rider (11 years old!!) taking it all followed by locals Alexe P. and Amber. Coach Sarah Payzant hit her head at the end of the contest and got to find out she was the big winner for the day while in the hospital getting checked out! Charlotte took advanced 2nd and coach Stephanie took third. After a wicked day we got to get together and hand out a MASSIVE amount of prizes. Here's how it went down. Beginner Contest 1. Erin Harris 2. Isabelle Allen K-I-N-K-Y WINNER: Chrstina Retson (NS) Runner-up: Livy Fraser (NS) Best Trick Kayla Mcpherson (PEI) Intermediate Contest 1. Christina Retson 2. Alexe Patenaude 3. Amber Shute 4. Livy Fraser 5. Nikki Meyer Advanced Contest 1. Sarah Payzant (NS) 2. Charlotte Butcher (NS) 3. Stephanie Meagher (NS) 4. Chanelle Roy (NB) 5. Kayla Mcpherson (PEI) FeasT at Martock took place once again this year as part of Billabong's Snowed In, a women's festival put together by the wonderful ladies of local shop, Pro Girl.
The FEAST Clinic was jam packed this year with 33 ladies attending and an age range of almost 30 years. It's fantastic to see the range of ladies, ages, and abilities coming out to the clinics. The Martock Clinic was lucky to have four (4) coaches on hand and were able to split the group into Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced. Thanks to everyone that came out and next year, look for two seperate clinics at Martock (hurray for too big a clinic!!). Congratulations to Dallas Rourke who took the Billabong Flaunt It title the following day as well as Adrenaline Divas Team Members and Coaches Stephanie Meagher (3rd) and Sarah Payzant (5th). The Adrenaline Divas packed up a van and went to Crabbe Mountain, NB this weekend. The reception we received from hill staff (thanks to Stefan, Jason, Richard, and Harlan) was top notch and we were given private access to an incredible and progressive park for two full days! On Saturday, 21 girls came out and took part in the clinic, our biggest turn out yet :) The progression we saw in their riding was amazing and all the participants were just great to coach and ride with.
For Sunday's contest, we had 10 girls come out which took our weekend attendees up to 24. The ten (10) girls that came out showed our judges some of the best riding we've ever seen in an all-girls contest on the East Coast. Taking the beginner category was Zoe who was coasting big FS 180's with clean grabs all day on the jump as well as boardsliding the street style down box! Second was Karine and third was Meaghan. COnGRATS girls and keep on competing! The Advanced category was a close contest but was won by Adrenaline Divas Team rider Stephanie Meagher. Stephanie was throwing HUGE FS 360's Melons like they were nothing as well as riding super solid on the boxes. In a close second was Crabbe native Michele Brown-Geldart with stylish frontlips on the urban down box and clean 180's on the jump. In third was Virginie with just sick style and pop on everything. Thanks again to everyone that came out and made this the best stop we have had yet! Today was beautiful and sunny at Wentworth NS for the first stop on the 2010 FeasT girls snowboard tour. Sixteen (16) participants of all ages came out for the morning clinic and afternoon contest.
Most Improved during the clinic went to Sarah, congrats! Pro Girl (most enthusiastic) went to Zoe. Best bail went to Kristina. Von Zipper goggles went to Erin from N.B. in the name draw. The afternoon contest had about 12 of 15 girls trying out their first snowboard contest, way to go girls!!! Both Beginner & Advanced contest participants received a sweet FeasT Tshirts thanks to Billabong as well as winners received a fantastic Billabong gift bag and copy of this years Women's Snowboard Annual with local Sarah Conrad on the cover. Advanced Winners: 1st - Sarah P. * also wins free entrance into Billabong Flaunt It at Martock, January 31st. 2nd - Anne G. 3rd - Christina R. Beginner Winners: 1st - Kristina M. 2nd - Alexe P. 3rd - Maria W. |
